Ganesh Chaturthi 2025[TKB-INDIA]

Ganesh Mahotsav is starting from today. This year this festival will be celebrated from Ganesh Chaturthi on 27th August to Anant Chaturdashi on 6th September. On the day of Ganesh Chaturthi, a clay idol of Lord Ganesha is installed in homes and temples. According to religious beliefs, worshiping a Ganesh idol made of clay in this 10-day festival is considered very auspicious and fruitful. Let us know what is going to be the auspicious time of Ganesh installation and what is the correct method of its installation.

Muhurta of installation and worship of Lord Ganesha

According to the Vedic Panchang, the Chaturthi date of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month will be from 1:53 pm on 26 August 2025 to 3:43 pm on 27 August. Based on Udia Tithi, the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated on 27 August i.e. today. During this, the auspicious time of Ganpati installation is going to be from 11:01 am to 1:40 pm on 27 August. After this, the second auspicious time will be from 01:39 pm to 06:05 pm. The auspicious time for worshiping Ganpati is from 11:05 am to 1:40 pm.

Ganesh Sthapana Puja Vidhi (Ganesh Puja Vidhi)

First of all, clean the place of worship in the house thoroughly and make it beautiful with flowers, rangoli and decorative items. In the auspicious time, install the idol of Lord Ganesha on an altar (chowki). Spread red or yellow cloth on the altar. Before starting the puja, take water, akshat (rice) and flowers in your hand and take a pledge of fasting and worship. Invoke Ganpati Bappa while chanting the mantra ‘Om Gan Ganpataye Namah’. Bathe the idol of the Lord with Panchamrit (milk, curd, ghee, honey and sugar). After this, dress him in new clothes, flowers and jewellery. Offer Ganesh ji his favorite offering modak and laddu. Also offer durva grass, red flowers and sindoor.

Take a bath in the morning and clean the place of worship. In the auspicious time, set up a chowki in the north-east direction. Place the idol of Ganesha on the chowki by spreading a red or yellow cloth. The idol should be made of pure material like brass, bronze, wood or stone. Worship Ganpati as per the rituals. Keep worshipping Ganesha every day. On the last day, immerse Ganpati with reverence and devotion.

Laddus – Offering laddus to Ganesha is considered auspicious. You can offer gram flour or boondi laddus.

Modak – Modak is the favorite bhog of Ganesha. It is mentioned in the Puranas that in his childhood, Ganesha used to eat the modaks made by his mother Parvati immediately.
