Users will get blue badge under Meta’s verification service. For this, users will have to spend government ID as proof and $ 11.99 (about Rs 990) every month. This price is for the web version. Whereas for Apple iOS system or Android platform, users will have to spend Rs 14.99 (about Rs 1,240).
The company was testing this service for some time. Before the US market, Meta had rolled out this service in Australia and New Zealand. Earlier, Snap’s social media platform Snapchat and messaging app Telegram also launched their paid service.
With this step, social media companies are looking for other ways of revenue. At present, most of the revenue of companies comes from ads.
Where earlier journalists, politicians and other public figures used to get blue tick after verification. Now users can buy this verification badge on subscription. Not only this, Twitter has also introduced different colored verification badges. In this, companies are getting yellow badges, government officials are getting gray and individuals are getting blue badges.
