Rishi Sunak’s entry in the list of Asian rich in Britain, has assets in billions [TKB World]

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murty are included in the ‘List of Asian Rich in Britain’ (Asian Rich List 2022 in UK). Hinduja family has been placed on top in this list of Asian rich. PM Sunak and his wife Akshata Murthy have got a place at number 17 in the list with estimated assets of 790 million pounds (about Rs 78,11,39,20,200).

The Hinduja family has topped the ‘List of Asian Rich in Britain’ for the eighth time in a row with an estimated net worth of 30.5 billion pounds. Compared to last year, this time the wealth of Hinduja family has increased by 3 billion pounds.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan presented a copy of the ‘Asian Rich List 2022’ to Ritu Chhabria, daughter of Hinduja Group co-chairman Gopichand Hinduja, at the 24th Annual Asian Business Awards at the Westminster Park Plaza Hotel on Wednesday night. Hinduja Group is an Indian international conglomerate. It does business in a total of 11 sectors.

Rise of the Asian community in Britain

This year’s Asian rich list includes 16 billionaires from the UK, one more than last year. Addressing the ceremony, the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster praised Rishi Sunak. He said- ‘Every year the stature of the British Asian community is increasing. This is no surprise to me personally. For the first time in my life I have seen the hard work, determination and entrepreneurship of the British Asian community. Of course I have a British Asian boss at my new job. He is a very good friend of mine.

First PM of Indian origin

Rishi Sunak, 42, is the first Prime Minister of Indian origin in Britain. Apart from politics, Sunak has also been in limelight for his wealth. Prior to entering politics, Sunak was an analyst at investment bank Goldman Sachs from 2001 to 2004, and later a shareholder in two hedge funds. Britain’s new Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, one of the UK’s richest MPs, reached the UK Parliament for the first time in the year 2015. Rishi Sunak won from Richmond in Yorkshire.

15 million pounds real estate

According to reports, Sunak and Akshata Murthy own real estate worth 15 million pounds. Sunak and Murthy have four houses. Two in London, one in Yorkshire and one in Los Angeles. In a report quoted by ‘The Guardian’, it was told that the couple had four properties in the UK and California. These include a £7 million five-bedroom house in Kensington, a 12-acre Georgian mansion in Yorkshire, worth around £1.5 million. A flat on Old Brompton Road in London and a penthouse on Santa Monica beach, which is said to be worth £5.5 million.

Akshata holds a 0.93 per cent stake in Infosys worth £690 million. As of September 30, Akshata held 0.93 per cent stake or 3,89,57,096 shares in the IT major.
