Yoga is very important for physical and mental health. The initiative to celebrate this day was taken by the honorable Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, since then International Yoga Day is celebrated every year. It is very important to do yoga for long life.
How did the celebration of this day begin at the international level?
The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi took the initiative to celebrate this day in the United Nations General Assembly on 27 September 2014, after which 21 June was declared as “International Yoga Day “. A proposal to celebrate International Yoga Day was proposed by 177 members at the United Nations on 21 June, which was passed by an absolute majority within 90 days, which is the shortest time for a day resolution in the United Nations.
Theme of International Yoga Day 2021
The theme of Yoga Day is different every year. This year i.e. on 21st June 2021, the theme of Yoga Day is ‘Yoga for Well being‘ i.e. ‘Yoga for Health‘. Last year in 2020, due to Corona virus, people were instructed to stay at home, so the theme of Yoga Day was ‘Do yoga at home‘.
First time Yoga day celebration :
The first ever entire world celebrated International Yoga Day on 21 June 2015. After the initiative taken by India almost all the countries of the world had joined this campaign to spread yoga to their own countries to stay healthy. Because now everyone knows that continuous practice of yoga gives a long life to a person so it was decided to celebrate this day as Yoga Day.
