Bhutan is counted among the least developed countries in the world. But this country is known worldwide because of its Gross Domestic Happiness Index. That is, the people of this country are the most happy in the world. Out of the total eligible population of Bhutan i.e. 735,553, 469,664 people have received the first dose of vaccine. That is, 85 percent of the population has received the Corona vaccine so far.

It is true that Bhutan’s low population is a matter of benefit for him. But it does not matter. Behind the success of the vaccination program, there is an army of volunteers and volunteers of the country. In Bhutan, these volunteers are called Desuups. Apart from this, the public healthcare planning of this country helped.

Desuups made the Bhutan population aware. After this it was kept in mind that every person reached the vaccination center. Also explained the protocol of Covid-19. Gave information about social distancing and utility of masks. The importance of these people also increases because before the epidemic in this country there were only 37 doctors and 3000 full time healthcare workers.

Bhutan Health Minister Dasho Deten Wangmo said that we have to depend on cold chain vaccination method. This process is quite expensive, yet we will be able to achieve success in the vaccination program. We have succeeded in universal vaccination only in 1990. We top each type of vaccination program.

India has also helped a lot in settling this program of Bhutan quickly. India gave 6 lakh doses of Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine to Bhutan for free. So that China cannot maintain its dominance by sending vaccine in Bhutan. With this, India’s relations with Bhutan would also remain good.

Michael Kugelman, Senior Associate for South Asia at the Woodrow Wilson Center, said that Bhutan has benefited from India’s vaccine diplomacy. Bhutan also received corona testing kits, personal protective equipment, N95 masks and essential medicines from India. India did all this work as a human being and a good neighbor. But it also has a strategic advantage. India has done a good job to reduce the growing influence of China in this area.

The Prime Minister of Bhutan, Dr. Lotte Tshering, is an excellent doctor. He himself is looking into the case of Corona epidemic.
