The risk of spreading cold, flu and infection increases significantly during the winter season. To avoid the cold in this season, people resort to things like warm clothes, hot water, tea-coffee. But do you know that some tricks to get relief from cold can make it difficult for you. For example, bathing with hot water for a long time can also harm the body. Let us tell you which mistakes we should avoid doing in winter.

Bathing with hot water for a long time- According to experts, taking hot water shower for a long time in cold weather is not good for health. This has a bad effect on both our body and mind. Actually hot water damages the skin cells called keratin, which increases the problem of itching, dryness and rashes in the skin.

Too much clothes – Keeping yourself warm in the winter season is a good thing, but wearing too much clothes should be avoided. By doing this your body may become a victim of overheating. Actually, when we get cold, our immune system produces white blood cells (WBC), which protect us from infection and diseases. Whereas the immune system is unable to do its job when the body is overheated.

Eating more- During the winter season, the eating of a person suddenly increases and he starts eating anything regardless of health. Actually, the body’s calories are spent more in comparison with cold, which we start compensating with hot chocolate or extra-calorie food. In such a situation, only fiber vegetables or fruits should be eaten when hungry.

Caffeine- In the winter season, tea and coffee are a good way to keep the body warm. But maybe you are forgetting that too much caffeine is harmful for the body. You should not drink more than 2 or 3 cups of coffee in a day.

Drinking less water- People feel less thirsty in winter. But this does not mean that the body does not need water in the cold. Water comes out of the body through urination, digestion and sweating. In such a situation, due to not drinking water, the body starts getting dehydrated. This can increase the problem of kidney and digestion.

What to do before sleeping- According to a research, it is good for health to keep hands and feet covered with gloves and socks before sleeping at night. This recipe is considered very beneficial to improve sleeping quality.

Bedtime Routine- In this season the days become shorter and the nights become longer. Such a routine not only disturbs the circadian cycle, but also increases the production of metallonin hormone (sleep hormone) in the body. This causes blinking. Lethargy rises. Therefore, try to get enough sleep during the sleeping time itself.

Avoid going out- In the winter season, most people stop going out of the house to avoid the cold. Doing so can take a toll on health. Your physical activity will deteriorate due to shrinking in the house. Obesity will increase and you will not be able to get vitamin D from the sun’s rays.

Exercise- Due to the low temperature in the cold, people keep shrinking in the bed and sitting. Due to zero physical activity, our immune system starts to slow down. Therefore, instead of sitting in the quilt, start cycling, walking or any workout immediately.

Self-medication- In this season people often have problem of cough, cold or fever. In such a situation, self-medication without consulting a doctor can be harmful. These can also be symptoms of some serious disease. Therefore, before trying any medicine or prescription, please consult a doctor.
