Last when your Spanish fellow said you “es el día de mi santo,” (literally means “it’s my saint’s day”) or in English we can say like “it’s my name day”? While this is a Spanish concept and many other European Countries observing the Roman Catholic and/or Greek Orthodox calendar of saints.In Catholic families (especially Spanish family) they tend to choose names for their children that come from Bible or connected to the history. So they have their special day dedicated to their names. Historically many Spaniards would name their child after the saint whose day the child was born on, but now days it is more common to have a saint’s day that does not fall on your birthday.
HOW ARE “NAME DAYS” CELEBRATED?
