Micro-blogging site Twitter launched a feature Fleets last year. This feature was heavily influenced by Instagram Stories. Now within a year, Twitter has announced its closure. Twitter has told that Fleets have no future, so this decision has been taken.
Twitter will shut down Fleets from August 3, 2021. However, it has said that instead of Fleets, it will offer other features to share. Twitter told that the company had high hopes for Fleets but now it is time to say goodbye to it.
Instead, another idea will be brought. Twitter further stated that Fleets will not be available from August 3. The company told that they thought people would be comfortable talking to Fleets, but those who used to tweet the most started using it.
Because of this, Twitter is looking for different ways for people to share. Twitter said that many users were not interested in it. With this the number of people was not increasing. The company has shared a blog post regarding this.
On what will come after Fleets, Twitter said that most of the Fleets used to have media. Users are participating in Twitter discussions by quickly sharing photos and videos. We will soon test the update to Tweet Composer and Camera to bring some of its features.
It will have full screen camera, text formatting options and GIF stickers. Twitter has also said that the timeline is an essential part of the screen. Some new features can be given on it.
