Team of scientists involved in mission ‘amazed’ after seeing picture of rover landing on Mars- TKB Science

The world saw the first photo of a rover landing on Mars on Friday. NASA released an ‘astonishing’ photo of a rover landing on the dusty surface of the red planet. This photo has been released less than 24 hours after the ‘Perseverance’ rover landed on the ancient river delta on Mars. Rover will discover the traces of ancient life there and will also try to bring  samples of red planet rock to the earth in a decade of its functioning. NASA has put 25 cameras to take pictures in this spacecraft, while two microphones are also included for recording voice, many of which started working while landing on the surface on Thursday.

The rover has sent an unusually clear picture of the ground from a distance of two meters in which it is connected to a sky crane via cable and red dust is blowing from the rocket engine. NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, based in Pasadena, California, has promised that more photos will be released in the coming days, and will likely be able to hear recorded voices as the rover takes off. “This is something we have never seen before,” flight system engineer Aran Stehura said at the press conference. It was shocking, the team was amazed. There was a sense of victory that we were able to capture these pictures and share them with the world. The strategic mission manager for ground operations, Powlin Hwang, said that many photographs have been received so far. He said, “The team jumped with joy at seeing the initial photos.” Deputy Project Scientist Katy Staak Morgan said that the pictures were so clear that they initially thought they were animations.

This is the important third trip to Mars in the last seven months. Earlier, each vehicle from the United Arab Emirates and China also entered orbit near Mars. As per working scientists they believe that if there had ever been life on Mars it would have been three to four billion years ago. The Perseverance is NASA’s largest ever rover and the ninth Mars mission of the US space agency since the 1970s.
