A billionaire has decided to get a huge statue of Lord Buddha made of golden colour. This will be the world’s tallest statue of Buddha, in which he will be seen sitting. It is being told that this statue will be about 108 meters high. About 331 crores($40 Million) are expected to be spent on this. The statue of Lord Buddha will be made in Cambodia. Cambodia’s business tycoon Sok Kong has decided to get it built. The statue will be taller than America’s famous Statue of Liberty. Sok has decided to build the Buddha statue on the Bokor hills on the outskirts of Kampot city.
According to the report of Khmer Times, Cambodia’s Prime Minister Hun Sen has also given permission to build the statue. It is being told that Sok’s project was approved because the design presented by him shows the Khmer culture.
Sok Kong released several photos showing what the statue would look like after it was built. The idol of Lord Buddha looks golden in the photo. Many small tombs are also visible around the idol. People will have to climb hundreds of stairs to reach the idol, but after reaching there, people will get a beautiful view of the city. Sok’s plan has been welcomed by most of the religious leaders. However, some people consider it a waste of money.
After the statue is made, it will be the tallest statue of its kind in the world. At the same time, it will be the fourth tallest statue in the world among all types of statues. The Statue of Unity of India with a height of 182 meters is the tallest statue in the world. The second number is China’s Spring Temple Buddha. Its height is 128 meters. Myanmar’s Lekyun Sekya is at number three. It is 116 meters high.
Sok Kong has also launched a crowdfunding campaign to build the statue. He is seeking donations from the people of his country and other countries to get the idol made.
