Taliban’s new Rule to gain recognition, ban on forced marriage of women in Afghanistan [TKB World]

The Taliban, which often imposes restrictions on women, has now taken a big decision in favor of women. The Taliban has told that it has decided to stop the forced marriage of women in Afghanistan. However, this decision of the Taliban is also being seen as a ploy to gain recognition from developed countries.

The decision was announced by the Supreme Leader of the Taliban, Hibatullah Akhunzada. The Taliban took control of Afghanistan in August. However, it has not been recognized yet, due to which all facilities and funds from abroad have been stopped and the country has stood on the verge of poverty.

In his declaration, Akhunzada said, ‘Both (women and men) should be equal. No one can compel women to marry under coercion or coercion.

Due to poverty and conservative thinking, forced marriage of women became common in Afghanistan. Many people forced their daughters to marry in order to feed their families and pay off their debts. Forced marriage has been banned in the order issued by the Taliban, but it still does not mention the minimum age. Earlier it was fixed for 16 years.

Women have been used as an asset in Afghanistan for decades. In exchange for murder or to end a quarrel, women are also married. But now the Taliban has said that it is against this practice.

Widows also got freedom to choose husband of their choice

The Taliban also said that if a woman’s husband dies, she can remarry after 17 weeks. There has also been a custom among the tribes for a long time that if a woman’s husband has died, then she can marry only her husband’s brother or any relative, but the Taliban has said that now the widow woman is free. She can choose her husband.

The Taliban has also said that it has ordered Afghan courts to treat women, especially widows, fairly.

The Taliban has issued this order at a time when thousands of girls from 7th to 12th have not been allowed to go to school. Not only this, the Taliban has also banned working women to return to work only after coming to power.
