The US and the Taliban have come face to face for the first time since the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan. US officials and senior Taliban officials met on Saturday in Doha, Qatar. After this talks, the US says that they are ready to help the people of Afghanistan without recognizing the Taliban government. Apart from this, America also said that now the Taliban will not be judged by their statements but by their actions.
Taliban-US talked on many issues
US State Department spokesman Ned Price said the US delegation met with Taliban representatives during the Doha talks and discussed issues of important national interest. These included terrorism, security, security of foreign nationals. Apart from this, both the countries also talked on the issues of girls and women.
However, the Taliban were also point to point during this talks. Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaki warned the US not to try to destabilize Afghanistan. After the talks in Doha, Amir Khan spoke to the news agency of Afghanistan about this with Bakhtar. He had said in his statement that we have clearly told them that do not even try to destabilize the government in Afghanistan, otherwise it will not be good for anyone. In a statement recorded by AFP, Amir Khan said that having good relations with Afghanistan would prove to be a win-win for everyone.
