A bag of money fell from an armored truck on the Southern California Freeway in the United States on Friday. After this there was a race to rob cash. There was also a scuffle in looting the cash. According to officials, the incident took place at 9:15 a.m. Friday when the armored truck was on its way from San Diego to an office of Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.
Several bags in the truck were broken, leaving currency scattered on a major road in Carlsbad, Southern California. Now its video is going viral. The viral video showed people picking up cash while some were holding piles of cash and throwing notes. These were mainly one dollar and 20 dollar notes. However, officials have urged people to hand over the cash.
Bodybuilder, Demi Bagby posted the footage on her Instagram page, saying, “This is the craziest thing I’ve ever seen, literally everyone stopped on the freeway to get money off the freeway.”
However, officials did not specify how much money was lost. According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, several people had returned the cash to the CHP by Friday afternoon. Sergeant Curtis Martin said of the incident, “One of the doors of the armored truck opened and bags of cash fell out.”
Those who take money may face criminal charges
Two people were arrested at the scene. Sergeant Martin warned that anyone else who took the money could face criminal charges. Referring to videos made by people present at the scene, Sergeant Martin said the CHP and FBI were investigating the matter. The California Highway was reopened within two hours of the incident.
