Scientists newly research the death of 841 Manatees(Sea Cows) in Florida

Scientists and the government are troubled by the death of manatees in Florida, USA. From January 1 to July 2 this year, 841 Manatees(Manatees) have died. All these fish have been found dead near the shores of Florida. Hunger is said to be the primary cause of death. That is, these creatures are not getting enough food in the sea or in their habitat. Think how scary this atmosphere is?

According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FFWCC), 841 manatees have died so far this year. The worst year for waterfowl in Florida was 2013, at which time 830 waterfowl were killed. According to the report of the news agency AP, in 2013, Manatees died due to algal bloom. This algal bloom was named Red Tide. Toxic chemicals released from algal blooms killed them.

The primary reason for the death of the Manatees who are dying this year is said to be lack of food. These waterfowl usually survive by eating Sea grass that is frozen at the bottom of the water. This year, the maximum number of water cows have died in the cold months. They had their arrival at Three Lagoons in Orlando, located on the east coast of Florida. It is called Indian River Lagoon. But the sea grass present here was over. That’s why they are being killed by hunger.

Due to the loss of Sea grass, it is becoming difficult for manatees to survive. The second reason is that their population has also increased in the last few years. That is, if there are more water bodies, then the need for sea grass will also be more. But due to the mixing of fertilizers and sewage sludge in the water, the amount of nitrogen and phosphorus is increasing. Because of this, algal bloom occurs. Which proves to be dangerous for these water cows.

According to the FFWCC, algal blooms cause loss of water clarity. The supply of sunlight runs out. Due to this, the sea grass growing in the foothills does not get sunlight, otherwise it starts dying. Now this organization in collaboration with many other organizations, universities and government agencies of the country is trying to return the habitat of Manatees.

The FFWCC had called the death of Manatees in March as an “unforeseen event”. With this announcement, the US government, state government and non-governmental organizations start all efforts to save water cows. Wildlife lovers across America are saddened by the news of the death of Manatees. They are constantly raising their voice to save it, as well as have started monitoring them wherever there are Manatees at different places.

The commission said that the manatees found in the Atlantic do not know how they develop their ability to starve. Scientists have not understood this thing till now. But the temperature is increasing continuously in Florida. The rotten carcasses of malnourished water cows are being seen on the shores. There is an urgent need to intensify efforts to save and preserve them.

The commission said that since the beginning of this year, 63 water cows have died due to boat collision. The news of starvation has come to the fore for the first time, before that most of the deaths of Manatees were due to injuries caused by boat and boat collision. The species of Manatees has been included in the list of Endangered Creatures in America.

Manatees are called Trichechus Manatus in the language of biology. In the 1970s, their population had decreased significantly. After this, a campaign was launched at the national level to save them. Due to which the population increased, but now they are facing the problem of hunger due to pollution and dirt being increased by humans.

At present, there are 6300 waterfowl around different water bodies in Florida. These water cows are usually up to 13 feet long. Their weight is about 590 kg. They swim using flippers located in the back of their body. They are considered to be very calm creatures.
