Saudi Arabia is going to take this big decision regarding its national flag and national anthem [TKB WORLD]

Saudi Arabia is moving towards a change in the law regarding its national anthem and national green flag. The green flag of Saudi Arabia has Islamic words inscribed on it and a sword remains on it. Saudi Arabia will now redefine the laws related to the green flag of Islam.

According to a report Saudi Arabia’s state media reported that late on Monday, the kingdom’s non-elected advisory council Shura voted in favor of changes to the rules related to the national anthem and the national flag. The council’s decisions will have no effect on existing laws or structures, but its vote in favor of the change is significant because its members are appointed by the king and their decisions are often in line with the government’s stance.

Another media organization associated with the government said that there will be a change in the law related to the national flag and national symbols, but there will be no change in the content of the national flag, national slogan and national anthem. The Shura Parishad did not share any detailed information in this regard. Local media outlets reported that the proposed changes to the law are intended to more clearly define the proper use of the country’s emblem, to raise awareness of the importance of the national flag and national anthem, and to protect the flag from disrespect or neglect.

Last week, Saudi police arrested four Bangladeshi people for disrespecting the Saudi flag. They were accused of throwing it in the garbage. Mohammed bin Salman’s proposal to change the national anthem and national flag of Saudi Arabia is part of the reforms that he has been doing for some time. He is doing many reforms to change the ultra-conservative image of the country. He has the support of his father King Salman in these reforms. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is attempting to redefine Saudi Arabia’s identity with a national-cultural identity that is not entirely defined by religion, Islam.

Mohammed bin Salman is reforming several laws to attract foreign trade and get ahead of competition among Gulf countries as part of his ambitious Vision 2030. Saudi Arabia also wants to reduce its dependence on oil.
