Restrictions related to Covid will be removed soon in Britain, scientists said it is a risky step [TKB WORLD]

While many countries of the world are battling with corona infection, the UK government is going to take a very risky decision regarding Covid. The UK government has announced that people suffering from Covid-19 in England will not need to be legally isolated from the coming week. However, some scientific advisers of the government say that this is a risky step, which can increase the infection. Also, it can undermine the security of the country against more dangerous variants coming in the future.

‘We have to learn to live with this virus’

The government has made this announcement under the ‘Living with Covid’ scheme. Under this scheme, there is a possibility of reducing the test of corona virus. Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that by removing all legal restrictions brought in to stop the spread of the virus,  Prime Minister Boris Johnson can present the details of this plan in Parliament on Monday.

Boris Johnson said, ‘Covid will not disappear suddenly and we have to learn to live with this virus. At the same time, you have to protect yourself, without stopping your freedom.’

Accused of declaring victory before the end of the war

Wes Streeting, the health spokesman for the opposition Labor Party, accused Boris Johnson of declaring victory before the end of the war. Boris Johnson’s Conservative government lifted most virus restrictions in January, abolished vaccine passports and made masks mandatory in most places, except in hospitals in England.

All restrictions including masks will be removed soon

Now the Conservative government says it will remove all other COVID rules restricting people’s freedoms and move it away from government interference to personal responsibility. After a positive result of Covid, the legal requirement to isolate for at least five days will be changed, and the coronavirus will be treated like the flu. In the new plan, keeping the virus in mind, the surveillance system and contingency measures will be maintained if required.

Scientists expressed concern over this decision

However, the scientists stressed that there is still a lot to be known about the virus. Future variants could be more dangerous than Omicron.

Scientists worry that the government may also close the survey of infections conducted by the Office of National Statistics, because it will not be considered necessary. NHS chief executive Matthew Taylor said this is not the time to take risks. We need to work in an evidence-based and better way.

Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, which set their own public health rules, are also slowly opening up. Vaccination rates were high in the UK and the effect of the Omicron variant was low, resulting in reduced hospitalizations and deaths due to the easing of restrictions.

Britain still has the highest coronavirus toll in Europe after Russia, which has recorded more than 160,000 deaths. In the UK, 85% of people 12 years of age and older have been given two doses of the vaccine. Also, about two-thirds of the people have taken a booster dose.
