Britain’s Queen Elizabeth-II said goodbye to the world at the age of 96. She was born on 21 April 1926. Queen Elizabeth’s full name was Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor, a sister of Queen Elizabeth. Whose name was Princess Margaret. Queen Elizabeth completed her studies at home. It has been written in one of her biography that as a child, Queen Elizabeth’s attachment was in horses, dogs, which lasted for a lifetime. Later she also used to bet on horse races.
When the princess became queen…
In the year 1947, when India was preparing for its independence, Elizabeth and Prince Philip got married at the same time. The royal family of Britain celebrated this wedding with great pomp. Shortly after the wedding, Prince Philip, Elizabeth took up her duties for the royal family. After about five years of marriage, that is, in the year 1952, Prince Philip, Princess Elizabeth were on a tour of Kenya. King George-VI’s health was very bad and his tour of Australia was being postponed again and again.
In such a situation, it was decided that after vacationing in Kenya, Elizabeth and Philip would visit Australia. But on this tour of Kenya on February 6, 1952, everything changed. Elizabeth’s father, King George, who had been ailing for a long time, passed away. Because Elizabeth was in a rural area of Kenya, it took some time for this message to reach her. But after receiving the news, Elizabeth and Prince Philip had to cancel their holidays and return to Britain immediately. When this incident happened, Elizabeth was only 25 years old.
Everything changed in this moment. Because after the death of King George-VI, it was clear that now Britain was going to get a new Queen. Elizabeth was a princess when she left Britain for Kenya, but returned as a queen from her vacation. Elizabeth II was appointed Queen of Britain on 6 February 1952, and was officially coronated on 2 June 1953.
Britain may have got victory in the second world war, but since then Britain started weakening. This was the reason that the countries which were ruled by Britain had started to withdraw from there control and started handing over power to the local governments. India was also one of them. But in the midst of this weak time, Queen Elizabeth got the command of Britain. When a young 25-year-old girl became the head of a royal family and dozens of countries came under that country, the eyes of the world were only on Queen Elizabeth. Queen Elizabeth officially took office after her coronation in 1953.
There came a time in the year 1961, when everything changed. In fact, when Queen Elizabeth visited Ghana in 1961, Ghana was struggling with many difficulties and the threat of a dictator was looming over her. But after all the difficulties, Queen Elizabeth visited there. The dispute was resolved on its own, and this tour raised the status of a young queen in the eyes of the world. Ghana became independent only in 1957 and since then there was a period of violence going on there.
In 1961, the Queen was to visit there, but the then government advised her not to go. Ignoring this advice, the Queen visited Ghana. Five days before the Queen’s arrival, the Ghanaian capital was bombed. Despite this, the Queen completed her tour, spending time with the ruler of Ghana, the common people, and it was finally a successful tour. The ruler there decided to work together with Britain. This tour had a profound impact on all Commonwealth countries.
