A media report has claimed that Prince Charles took this donation from bin Laden’s half-brother in 2013, that is, almost two years after the death of Osama bin Laden. This donation was accepted by the Prince of Wales Charitable Fund (PWCF). Osama bin Laden died on 2 May 2011.
News agency quoted Britain’s famous newspaper ‘The Sunday Times’ as reporting that Prince Charles had met in London with Bakr, the half-brother of al-Qaeda leader bin Laden, and reportedly raised 1 million pounds, agreed to take a donation. The report claimed that Prince Charles, the heir to the British throne, was asked by several of his senior advisors to return this amount. However, his clearance house has denied this. The Clearance House says that the Prince himself has been personally involved in this decision.
A Clearance House spokesperson told that the Prince of Wales Charitable Fund has assured us that the entire process has been followed in accepting this donation. The decision to accept this has been taken by the trustee of the charity himself. The Prince of Wales Charitable Fund was established in 1979. Meanwhile, the Prince of Wales Charitable Fund says that this donation was taken from Sheikh Bakar bin Laden in 2013. The trustee of the fund deliberated on it carefully before accepting it. For this, information was gathered from many sources and the entire process was followed. Even information was obtained from the government before processing the acceptance.
Significantly, Osama bin Laden was the mastermind of the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001 in America. America’s World Trade Towers were toppled in this attack and about 3,000 people lost their lives.
