US President Joe Biden has said that the US is taking action against the military leadership behind the military coup in Myanmar.
Calling Myanmar’s military generals to relinquish power, Biden said the US was freezing Myanmar’s US-based fund.
Biden said, ‘I have signed an executive order that immediately imposes sanctions on the military leadership who led the military coup. Their business interests and close relatives will also come under the purview of restrictions.
President Biden said that the United States will mark those who are to be banned in the first round of sanctions this week.
The President also said that the US will implement strict export controls for Myanmar and is ready to impose additional restrictions if needed.
President Biden said, “I once again demand the Burmese army to immediately release democratic political prisoners and activists, including Aung San Suu Kyi and Vin Mint.”
He said, ‘The army will have to relinquish power.’
President Biden said that his administration is freezing the one billion dollar fund in Myanmar’s US.
