In the corona epidemic, many variants of the virus have knocked the world so far. From Delta to Alpha and from Beta to Omicron, each variant had its own identity and some were said to be less lethal and some more. But another name has been added to this list. It is said to be a sub-variant of Omicron – BA.2.
WHO has reported that so far this sub variant of Omicron has spread to five countries in Africa. There are cases of this new sub variant coming fast. In Denmark, there are more cases of this sub variant than the original Omicron. In such a situation, questions are being raised again that how dangerous is this new sub variant?
World Health Organization scientist Nicksy Gumede-Moeletsi said that this new sub variant of Omicron has been seen in Botswana, Kenya, Mawai, Senegal and South Africa. It is more difficult to identify and this detection is also not being done easily. One reason for this is that the S gene has not been found during the investigation in this sub variant. Because of this, corona can be detected through PCR test, but which variant it is, it will take more time to investigate.
After preliminary investigation, it has definitely been said that this new sub variant is as effective as the old variant, no one has become more bad. But there are some other aspects on which scientists are still investigating. By the way, in a recent study, it has been told that the new variant BA.2 of Omicron is spreading more rapidly than its original form. In some cases, it has also been seen that this sub variant is also affecting people taking booster doses.
