A new variant of the corona virus has been found in South Africa. It is said to be very dangerous. In such a situation, Britain has canceled flights to 6 African countries. However, this restriction has been imposed temporarily.
Not only this, the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has declared the new variant B.1.1.
UK Health Secretary Sajid Javid tweeted that UKHSA is investigating new variants of Corona. However, more data is still needed. But we are still taking precautions. From tomorrow afternoon, 6 African countries will be added to the Red List and flights coming from there will be temporarily banned.
Variant testing
The UK took this step at a time when media reports claimed that a new variant of Corona has been found in Africa. It is being called a ‘serious concern’. In Africa, more than 100 people have been infected with this variant.
After the appearance of this variant, the government of South Africa, in collaboration with private laboratories, is searching for infected people on a large scale. It is not yet known how dangerous it is. But according to South Africa’s The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), it can be contagious.
