Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose: Achievements and contributions (GK TKB)

Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was an Indian nationalist whose patriotism has left a mark in the hearts of many Indians. He is known as the founder of ‘Azad Hind Fauj’ and his famous slogan was ‘You will do nothing to me, I will give freedom’.  Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose died in a hospital in Taiwan on August 18, 1944 after burning in a plane crash.

Subhash Chandra Bose: Family History and Early Life
Netaji  was born on 23 January 1897 in Cuttack (Orissa) to Prabhati Dutt Bose and Janakinath Bose aa a middle class family. Father of Bose was a lawyer in Cuttack and earned the title of “Rai Bahadur”. He schooled from Naprotestant European School (now known as Stewart High School) and graduated from Presidency College. At the age of 16 he was inspired by Swami Vivekananda and Ramakrishna . He passed the civil service examination in 1920, but after hearing of the nationalist upheaval in India in April 1921, he resigned his candidature and returned to India.

Netaji Bose joined the Non-Cooperation Movement which was leaded by Mahatma Gandhi. During the movement of Non-Cooperation Movement Gandhi advised Bose to work with Chittaranjan Das who later became his political mentor. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose then became the young teacher and commandant of the Bengal Congress volunteers. He started the ‘Swaraj’ newspaper.

Netaji’s leaded The All India Forward Bloc was a leftist nationalist political party in India. Netaji Bose was known for his leftist views in the Congress party which was lead by Gandhi. The main objective of the Netaji’s  Forward Bloc was to bring together all the radical elements of the Congress Party.

Netaji played a major role for formation and functioning of the Azad Hind Fauj, which also known as the Indian National Army or INA.
