Navratri 2020: Dates, History, Celebrations, Colours and Significance (GK-TKB)

As per the Hindu Calendar holy Navratri falls in the month of Ashwin in the Ritu season of Sharad and so is named as Sharad Navratri or Sharadiya Navratri.

Navaratri Types

1. Sharad Navratri
Sharad Navratri  falls on Shukla Paksha of the Month of Ashwin as per hindu calendar which is  mainly September/October as per Gregorian Calendar.

2. Chaitra Navratri

It falls on Shukla Paksha of the month of Chaitra as pe hindu calendar  mainly falls in the month of March/April.

3 and 4rth are Ashad and Magha Navratri

Significance of Navratri festival

As discussed above it is a nine-day festival that signifies the victory of good over evil. It is believed by the hindu concepts that in Shardiya Navratri worshipping Goddess Durga can help in getting salvation and seek her blessings for the future.
