NASA: 300 megapixel camera will be installed in space [TKB SCIENCE]

NASA is going to deploy a 300 megapixel camera in space. This camera will take pictures of dark matter, dark energy, outer planets, galaxies in space. Will reveal the secrets of space. The making of this camera was started two years ago. Its launch is to be held in May 2027. For the first time, a telescope has been named after a woman scientist. The US space agency NASA has recently launched the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). Now they are working on a different type of telescope, which will have a 300-megapixel infrared camera. The Center for Climate Simulation is helping NASA in this work.

Nancy Grace Roman is called ‘Hubble’s mother’

Nancy Grace Roman was one of the senior scientists at NASA, who has worked with the moon landing Buzz Aldrin and other scientists. Nancy earned her doctorate in astronomy from the University of Chicago in 1949. She was one of the few women to come in this field at that time. Born in 1925, Nancy died in the year 2018. She joined NASA in 1959. She was the first female executive. After that she became the first Chief Astronomer. Nancy was called ‘Hubble’s mother’. Because she did all the work from the concept of the Hubble Space Telescope to making it

200 times more powerful than Hubble Camera

The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope will have a 300-megapixel infrared camera. Which will be 3 to 200 times more powerful than the Hubble Telescope’s Wide Field Camera. That will be able to take the best wide angle picture of the galaxy. The more views seen means, the more secrets will be revealed. That too in a very short time.

Human’s new eye in space

The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope will be the new eye of humans in space. It will explore other areas of space including the Milky Way. Scientists from all over the world will be able to get new information from its use. It will be launched to create a bigger picture of space. Maybe with the help of its pictures, scientists can make a map of space in the future.

How will the launch happen?

The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope will be launched into space by a Falcon Heavy or Vulcan rocket. The launch will be supervised by NEN-White Sands, NM, ESA-New Norcia, Australia, JAXA- Great JAPAN, DSN. The launch will be from Cape Canaveral itself.
