JIO new year announcement (Tech TKB)

The country’s largest telecom company Reliance Jio, has announced to make free calls from its network to other networks in the country from January 1, 2021, giving the New Year gift. Till now, there was no charge for calling Jio’s to Jio number. The company says that this has become possible due to the end of the Interconnect Use Charge (IUC) system for domestic voice calls from the Department of Telecommunications (DOT). Following the directives of telecom regulator TRAI, DOT had ordered the IUC to be abolished from January 1. Jio said that all new and existing customers will get free call facility. Customers who have recharged the plan ahead will also not have to pay a charge for calls to other networks.
