International Women’s Day 2022 [TKB WORLD]

Every year on March 8 women’s Day is celebrated world wide. It is  dedicated to women. This Day, we remember such women who have left their indelible mark on the global stage. The purpose of celebrating this special day is to remember the achievements of those women, their passion, their historical journeys and their lives to motivate all women.

History of International Women’s Day:
In the year 1911 Women’s Day was celebrated for the first time. People have different views regarding this day. It started with the wave of labor movement. This day is celebrated for the political and social growth of women.

The International Socialist Congress famous German activist Clara Zetkin, in the year 1910 made the efforts to agreed to the international nature of Women’s Day and the public holiday on this day. After this, on March 19, 1911, the first International Women’s Day was celebrated in Denmark and Germany. Since March 8 in the year 1921 International Women’s Day is celebrated all over the world on 8 March with different theme each year.

Where was the first women’s day celebrated?
In the year 1909 women’s Day was first organized as a socialist political event in New York. Then in 1917, the Soviet Union declared this day as their national holiday. Since then women’s day began to be celebrated in all the countries of the globe. Now generally whole globe celebrate it. Some people dedicate wearing purple ribbons to celebrate this day.

What is the reason for celebrating Women’s Day?
This day is focus to end discrimination against women. This day is also celebrated to focus on the development of women and to take pride in their achievements.

What is the theme of this year?
Every year Women’s Day is celebrated with themes. According to the United Nations, this year the theme of International Women’s Day 2022 (IWD 2022) is ‘Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow‘ i.e. gender equality is essential for a strong future.
