Hilsa fish is found in the rivers of Bangladesh, which is very much liked in India. Hilsa fishes are imported from Bangladesh itself. But for some time Bangladesh has greatly reduced the export of Hilsa. It is believed that this was done because the export of corona vaccine has been banned from India.
According to a sources the Indian government has banned the export of corona vaccine. In such a situation, speculations are being made that due to this, the Bangladesh government has also limited the export of Hilsa fish.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, India had sent more than 10 million vaccines to Bangladesh, but due to the lack of vaccine during the second wave in the country, India has still banned the export of the vaccine. Angered by this, the Bangladesh government limited the export of Hilsa fish, a favorite of Indians.
However, Bangladesh has banned the export of Hilsa for a very long time. But last year on the occasion of Jamai Shashthi (a festival of Bengal), the Sheikh Hasina government of Bangladesh gave special permission to export 2 tonnes of Hilsa fish. Hilsa fish is found in the Padma River in Bangladesh (there the Ganges River is called Padma), which is very much liked in Bengal.
Some experts believe that India did not send the vaccine, so the export of Hilsa was also banned, it would not be correct to guess. Because the relations between the two countries do not rest on Hilsa Diplomacy.
When Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee went to Dhaka to sign an agreement, she jokingly asked Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, “Why are there so many Hilsa items on the menu?” To this, Hasina replied, “As soon as the water level of Teesta river increases, Hilsa will also be able to swim to Bengal.”
