Ice Volcanoes on Pluto [TKB Science]

The New Horizons spacecraft of the American space agency NASA has discovered several volcanoes on Pluto at once. It is not like the volcanoes of Earth. These are Ice Volcanoes. According to NASA, about 10 such volcanoes have been found, whose height can range from 1 kilometer to 7 kilometers.

NASA said that these dome-shaped icy volcanoes have so far been seen only on Pluto. Such volcanoes have neither been found nor are there on any other planet. The surprising fact is that like the volcanoes of the earth, these hot gas or lava of molten stones do not erupt from volcanos of Pluto they spew snow in huge quantities.

Scientists have given a new name to Ice Volcanoes. It is also being called cryovolcanoes. It is continuously spewing snow from its open hole like toothpaste. Which usually has stagnant water. Like Pluto, the dwarf planet Ceres in the asteroid belt, Saturn’s moons Enceladus and Titan, Jupiter’s moon Europa and Neptune’s moon Triton are also known to be cryovolcanoes. This study by Kelsey Singer has been published in the journal Nature Communications. Kelsey Singer says that the process of spewing ice on such a large scale means that there is still internal heat inside Pluto.

Planetary Scientist Alan Stern of the Sauswest Research Institute said that this study shows that there may be many places in space where there can be ice volcanoes. That is, the process of cryovolcanism takes place. In simple language, there are also ice-spewing volcanoes. The most important fact about Pluto is that it is very complex. As complex as Earth and Mars. These volcanoes are surprising discoveries.

Kelsey Singer said that there are nitrogen ice glaciers inside Pluto, which flow. Ice made from nitrogen vaporizes during the day. It starts hardening again at night.
