When the Northern Lights i.e. Aurora Borealis are active, no rockets or satellites of any kind are fired around them. Because satellites or rockets can be destroyed by strong electromagnetic waves. Or it can be disabled. Due to this, there can be a loss of millions and billions of money. But now the US space agency NASA is about to send a rocket between the active Northern Lights.
NASA is about to launch the Ion-Neutral Coupling During Active Aurora (INCAA Mission) mission from the Poker Flat Research Range in Alaska on March 23. This mission will examine its intensity, energy, heat etc. while flying between the Northern Lights. Because the energy of the Northern Lights can be of use to humans in the future. From there a huge amount of heat can be stored.
We all live under the troposphere. It is the lowest atmospheric layer of the Earth. The air we breathe is made up of neutral particles. The oxygen and nitrogen we breathe in are made up of magnetically balanced molecules and particles. But hundreds of kilometers above it is not so. There the charged particles coming from the sun spoil the condition of the gases.
On this basic idea, NASA scientists will try to know how much energy is produced during the active aurora there by flying a rocket between the northern lights. When charged particles of active aurora collide with neutral gaseous particles in the atmosphere, they produce colorful light through friction. Different gases emit different colors of light. This is just like the spectators rushing towards the stadium after winning the match in the stadium. As they descend, the density increases. Energy is produced only by friction between these densities that can be stored.
Before launching it, scientists will wait for the arrival of the Northern Lights on the launch pad. As soon as the aurora is formed. Both these rockets will be launched. The first rocket will go up leaving the vapor tracer. From which colored chemicals will come out. It will go up to a maximum height of 299 km. Due to vapor tracers, clouds will be visible in the sky. which will be visible from the earth.
The second rocket will be launched after a gap of a few minutes. This rocket will go up to a height of 201 km. It will measure the temperature of the aurora at that altitude and the density of the plasma outside it. At present, scientists do not have an idea what kind of data will be available. But it is certain that some very interesting and wonderful information is going to be found in this experiment being done for the first time.
