Floods caused huge destruction in Europe [TKB-Europe/World]

BERLIN: The death toll from devastating floods in Europe rose to  more than 200 on Saturday, as rescuers continued to carry out relief efforts. Police said with their record statements that more than 100 people were reported dead in Germany’s Ahrweiler county. The county itself is one of the worst affected by the floods in Germany. Disaster Management Related officials on Friday reported 70 deaths in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. And more than 50 have been confirmed dead due to this flood in Germany’s most populous state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

As per Belgian media the death toll in Belgium rose to 27 on Saturday. The water level receded in most of the affected areas by Saturday, but on the other hand officials are alerted because as per disaster data, more bodies could be found from cars and trucks that were washed away in the floods. As per officials update German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier is scheduled to visit Erfstadt, the southwest city of Cologne on Saturday. And the worst situation will come with big data because many people were trapped in the rubble due to the collapse of houses. As per officials statements some people did not manage to escape from the house, vehicle and the subways . Electricity and telephone services are yet to be restored in many affected areas.

Southern part of Netherlands also affected by floods
Rescue team rescued nearly 700 people from the German city of Wassenberg, bordering Holland, after the Rür embankment broke. The southern part of the Netherlands has also been affected by heavy floods, which came with bi disasters there too. Many Volunteers worked through the night to repair the embankments and save the roads and save the lives. More than thousands of residents were allowed to return to their homes after repairing of vast area in the Netherlands’ southern cities of Bunde, Wollwems, Bromeilen and Guelle.

Flood caused a lot of devastation in Switzerland too
Netherlands acting Prime Minister , Mark Rutte, visited the affected area on Friday and said the region had faced big “3 disasters”. In Switzerland too, heavy rains broke the banks of many rivers and large ponds, which alert the data for flood due to that Lucerne city authorities closed several pedestrian bridges over the Reuss river for people safety.
