Flights cancelled, Tension around the world due to China-Taiwan [TKB World]

China is furious over US Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan. On Thursday, China also fired missiles near the border of Taiwan during the exercise in protest against this visit. This is the first time that China has fired a missile towards Taiwan. On the other hand, some airlines canceled their flight to Taipei. While many are using other airspace in view of China’s maneuvers.

Chinese forces are conducting military exercises just 9 nautical miles from the Taiwan border. Many warships, fighter jets are taking part in this exercise. Not only this, China also fired many missiles towards Taiwan. China is practicing in air and sea from 6 points around Taiwan. Many missiles fired by China also fell in the border of Japan.

The impact on these flights
Due to this practice, flights going from South East Asia to North East have been affected. Korean Air Line said it has canceled flights between Seoul and Taipei. Singapore Airlines also canceled flights from Singapore to Taipei. Although Japan and Hong Kong flights are going to Taipei, they are not using old airspace.

The Chinese military has confirmed the firing of missiles in Taiwan’s maritime border during the exercise which lasted till noon on Sunday. Not only this, more than 100 aircraft, 10 warships are also participating in this exercise of China.

Taiwan’s Defense Ministry said that 22 Chinese fighter jets had entered Taiwan’s territory. But the already alert Taiwanese fighter planes drove away with a warning. Not only this, but on Thursday, the Taiwanese soldiers also drove away four Chinese drones flying over Kinmen Island. It was said from Taiwan that the missiles fired by China were high, they did not pose any threat.

America warns China

America has once again warned China about the military exercise. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said, hopefully China will not create a new crisis. The US Secretary of State said, the US stands for peace and stability in Taiwan and opposes any unilateral attempts to change the status quo. Especially by using force. Blinken said, we also support China’s One Policy, as well as are committed to the Taiwan Relations Act.
