Fierce volcanic eruption in Indonesia [TKB World]

Indonesia’s most densely populated island of Java faced the Volcano eruption on Saturday, with the huge plume of ash in the sky. The poisonous  gas and lava emanating from the volcano created panic among the people living nearby the area. Due the volcano blast  at least one villager died of burns and 41 other scorched persons had to be admitted to the hospital some of them are in serious condition.

Mount Semeru, located in the Lumajang district of Rivi Java province, suddenly erupted, filling many villages around its slopes with ash emanating from it.

Eko Budi Lleno, head of the Geological Survey Center, said the 3,676-metre (12,060-foot) lava dome above Semeru was damaged by several days of thunderstorms and it eventually collapsed. As per the officials the gas and lava emanating from the volcano reached the river located 800 meters away on Saturday which made some relief to the residence. Due to the risk on life people have been advised to stay at least 5-6 km away from the volcano.

Thorikul Haque, the district chief of Lumajang, said, “Dense balloons of ash have covered many villages.” He said several hundred people have been moved to temporary shelters or other safe areas. Due to dark ashes over the sky there was a lot of difficulty in evacuating people, which made the scenario more complex. The main bridge connecting Lumajang and the neighboring district of Malang has been damaged by lava and smoldering debris flowing from volcano which making it worse day by day.

As per Deputy district chief Indah Masdar updates to the media one person died of burns while 41 others suffered burns and have been admitted to the hospital with several critical damages.
