End of corona pandemic in 2022! WHO raised trust but with some conditions [TKB Health]

Amidst the rapidly increasing cases of Omicron, WHO (World Health Organization) chief Dr. Tedrus Adhanom has said that 2022 could be the last year of the corona epidemic. But for this, developed countries will have to share their vaccines with other countries. He said that the corona virus has entered its third year.

The director of WHO is quite sure that in the year 2022, the corona epidemic will end. But narrow nationalism and vaccine hoarders can become a hindrance. Dr. Tedrus said that the inequality of the vaccine has created ideal conditions for a variant like Omicron to flourish. He said that the greater the disparity of the vaccine, the greater the risk of developing the virus. We can’t even imagine it.

The latest figures show that many parts of the world are lagging behind. Countries such as Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Chad and Haiti have less than one percent of the fully vaccinated population. Whereas in high-income countries this figure is estimated to be more than 70 percent. Dr. Tedrus said that only after dealing with this inequality can we imagine returning to a normal life.

In his statement, he said, ‘If we eliminate inequality, then the epidemic will end. Global Vaccine Facility , WHO and our partners are working to make vaccines, tests and treatments accessible to people around the world who need them. He said that millions of lives have been saved so far on the basis of the vaccine. New drugs and medical tools are also available with doctors to prevent and treat Covid-19.

Regarding the rapidly spreading Omicron variant all over the world, Dr. Tedrus said, ‘The latest figures show that more than 80 percent of the cases of Covid-19 admitted in hospitals are those who have not been given a booster dose.’ According to the UK Health Secretary’s Agency (UKHSA), 608 out of 815 cases of the mutant strain admitted to hospital have not been given a booster dose of the vaccine. New data suggests that a booster dose can reduce the risk of hospitalization in Omicron by up to 88 percent.

Data released by the UKHSA suggests that you are 8 times more likely to be hospitalized if you are unvaccinated. Therefore, those who have not taken any dose yet, they should make arrangements to get the vaccine immediately.
