Custard apple has also been used in Ayurveda for a long time. Many studies have been told about the many benefits of custard apple. As beneficial as the fruit of the custard apple tree is, its leaves, root and bark are equally beneficial. It is used in many types of medicines. This fruit looks hard from outside but is very soft and pulpy inside.  It is a very good source of energy- The amount of calories in custard apple is much higher as compared to normal apple. Due to which you get a lot of energy by eating it. It also contains a high amount of potassium, which is considered very beneficial for muscle weakness and blood circulation.

Beneficial for Heart Health- Custard apple has a balance ratio of sodium and potassium which helps in controlling the fluctuations of blood pressure in the body. One small custard apple can give you 10 percent of magnesium, which is a sufficient dose of magnesium for a person. It is necessary for the proper functioning of many parts of the body. Also, it relaxes the heart muscles and reduces the risk of stroke.

For diabetic patients- Custard apple is much sweeter than dragon fruit and is not considered a good option for diabetic patients. Custard apple has a GI level of 54 but a glycemic load of 10.2. If diabetic patients consume custard apple in limited quantity, then it can prove to be very beneficial for them. Custard apple is rich in lipophenolic antioxidants. It helps in more production of insulin and absorption of glucose, thereby keeping the sugar level under control. Diet experts recommend eating custard apple in small pieces and instead of eating it straight, you can eat it by mixing it in oatmeal, yogurt and smoothies. 20 mg of vitamin C is found in 100 grams of custard apple, which has an effect on insulin production and helps in keeping blood sugar levels low.

Beneficial for stomach problems- Ulcers, stomach problems and acidity etc. can be avoided by consuming custard apple. 2.5 times more fiber is found in 100 grams of custard apple and vitamin C is equal to half an orange. Also, the high amount of magnesium present in it helps in maintaining the bowel movement.

Beneficial in fighting depression- Custard apple is rich in antioxidants which protect our body from the harmful effects of free radicals. Along with reducing oxidative stress, they also work to prevent diseases like cancer and coronary heart disease. Some studies have found that custard apple leaves have anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, anti-obesity, antioxidant, antiviral and anti-microbial properties.

The body gets B complex vitamins from custard apple. This B complex vitamin regulates neuron chemical levels of GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) present in the brain, which help to control depression, stress and our emotions. In this way vitamin B helps to keep you calm.
