National Council for Transgender Persons – Composition:
- The council is formed under the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019.
- It is headed by the Union Social Justice Minister.
- The council had members from 10 central departments, five states and members of the community.
- They also included representatives from five states or union territories,
- The first batch comprises Jammu and Kashmir, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Tripura and Gujarat.
- The most importantly five members of the community and five experts, from non-governmental organisations, have also been named to the commission for the Act inactment.
- The tenure of the community members and experts shall be three years.
- The Act establishment council will have joint secretary-level members with various fields from the ministries of health, home, minority affairs, education, rural development, labour and law.
