Budh Purnima 2023: Know the method and importance of worship [TKB India]

Buddha Purnima is being celebrated on 05 May 2023, Friday. Buddha Purnima is also known as Vaishakh Purnima and Satya Vinayak Purnima. Lord Buddha, the founder of Buddhism, was also born on this day at a place called Lumbini in Nepal. That’s why it is also called Buddha Purnima. Buddha has been described as the ninth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Along with Lord Vishnu and Buddha, there is also a ritual of worshiping Chandradev on Vaishakh Purnima.

The auspicious time of Buddha Purnima will start on May 04  night at 11.44 pm and it will end on May 05 at 11.03 pm. According to Udayatithi, Vaishakh Purnima is being celebrated on 05th May i.e. today.

This time Vaishakh Purnima or Buddha Purnima is considered very special because today lunar eclipse is also taking place. This coincidence is going to happen after 130 years. Lunar eclipse will start on 5 May 2023 i.e. tonight at 8.44 pm and will end on 6 May 2023 at 1.02 am. Siddhi Yoga will also be created during this time. Siddhi Yoga is considered very auspicious in astrology and all the works done during this period are successful. On May 5, 2023 i.e. today at sunrise, Siddhi Yoga has started at 05:37 and this yoga will remain till 9:15 in the morning.

Buddha Purnima Worship Method (Budh Purnima 2023 Pujan Vidhi)

After taking bath in the morning, offer Arghya to the Sun God and float sesame seeds in the flowing water. Water should also be offered to the Peepal tree. Since Shani Jayanti is also celebrated in some areas on this day, Shani Dev should be worshiped by lighting oil, sesame and lamp etc. You can also recite Shani Chalisa or chant Shani mantras. Donation and Dakshina should also be given according to your ability.
