Brazil: Man enters pre-school with axe, kills 4 children [TKB World]

Entering a pre-school (day care center) in Brazil, a madman killed 4 children. The children who lost their lives in the attack are between 5 and 7 years old. These include three boys and one girl. The local hospital told that 4 children have died in the incident, while 4 children have also been injured. The age of the injured children is less than 2 years. It is being told that the attacker used an axe to attack.

According to the Brazilian police, the incident took place in the city of Blumenau in the state of Santa Catarina, located in the southern region of the country. Santa Catarina Governor Jorginho Mello told that a 25-year-old suspect has been arrested following the attack. Police say that before carrying out the attack, he jumped over the wall of Cantinho Bom Buster Day Care and entered inside.

According to the police, the teachers posted in the day care saw the person carrying out the attack. On seeing the teachers, the accused started running from there and later he handed himself over to the police. State Governor Jorginho Mello has expressed his condolences to the families of the children killed in the attack. He has said that the whole country is standing with them in this hour of grief.

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula de Silva has also expressed grief over the incident. He has written on Twitter that nothing can be more sad than losing  children and grandchildren. The incident of violence against innocent children, who cannot even protect themselves, is heart-wrenching.

Attacks on students in Brazil earlier also

The incident of attack on children in Brazil is not new. Earlier in November 2022, a masked attacker entered two schools in the south-eastern region of Brazil and fired indiscriminately. Two teachers and a student were killed in the incident. While 11 people were injured. The shooter was carrying a semiautomatic pistol. He was wearing a bulletproof jacket. A video of the incident also surfaced in social media, which showed the shooter entering the teacher’s lounge after breaking open the lock of the public school. The shooter had covered his face, which made it difficult to identify him.
