Then devotees offer sandalwood, white cloth, flowers, curd-butter, white sesame laddus, Akshat, melted butter, coconut and its water, quince, plum etc. to the Devi Saraswati.

Story behind : According to the prevailing mythology of Saraswati Puja, at the time of creation of the world, Lord Brahma had also created human beings along with other creatures by getting the permission of Lord Vishnu. Mythology said that Brahma Ji was not satisfied with this new balance, he felt as if something was lacking due to which there was an atmosphere of peace around. After this assumption Brahma ji, with permission from Lord Vishnu, sprayed water from his kamandal.

During doing this the earth started vibrating and then a goddess appeared from among the trees, with Veena in one hand and Vara in the other hand. While the rest was the book and the beads of beads in both hands. Seeing them, Brahma Ji requested them to play the veena. As the goddess started playing the veena the ability to speak was developed in all beings throughout the world.

The sea began to clamor, the wind began to rustle. And finally seeing all this, Brahma Ji named the goddess as the goddess of speech. Since then Saraswati is worshiped with other names of Veenavadini, Vagdevi, Bagishwari.
