Arecibo telescope Collapsed (Science TKB)

Right now the people of science world are in shock because they have lost such a thing from which they used to collect information of the space. Actually, here is the talk of the giant telescope Arecibo, which completely collapsed on 1 December. It was located in Puerto Rica which helped scientists for a long time to discover lots secrets of the sky.

Scientists considered the world’s largest telescope
As per Meteorologist Ada Monjan Arecibo has been sitting on the earth for more than half a century and solving the mysteries of space and has been a great loss for scientists. Ada said that a lot of efforts were made to save Arecibo but alas it has now completely collapsed and became non function-able . Scientists considered it the world’s largest radio telescope.

This is the reason for the telescope collapse
Arecibo’s telescope 900-ton platform fell 400 feet down the jar on the reflector dish which destroy all its values. As per NSF no one was injured in the accident. That is why the platform hanging above was damaged. The main cable of Arecibo was broken in early November. Astronomer and Professor Carmen Pantoza at the University of Puerto Rica described it as a major tragedy. The NSF said other ways would be worked to help the scientific community and strengthen relations with the people of Puerto Rica.

Scientists have lost precious jewels
Dr. Jonathan Freedman, a scientist who worked at Arecibo for decades, described the incident as a ‘storm’. He said that at first it seemed as if there was a high speed earthquake with strong rain. The thunder of the clouds was also heard for a few moments during the incidents scene. As per Dr. Martorell ‘It could have been avoided.  He said that Arecibo was a gem of the science world and it is difficult to believe that it is not now.
