Security forces killed a man who held four people hostage for several hours at a Jewish religious site in Texas, USA. The suspect has been identified as Malik Faisal Akram, a British national.
On the other hand, US President Joe Biden called the incident a terrorist act. The US security agency FBI said there was no indication that anyone else was involved in the attack. At the same time, the UK Counter Terrorism Police has arrested two teenagers from South Manchester in this case. Both have been taken into custody by the police for questioning.
Akram was demanding the release of the Pakistani scientist. Pakistani scientist Afia Siddiqui was found guilty of attempting to assassinate US military officers while in Afghan custody. Afia is currently lodged in the Federal Jail of Texas. Akram had taken four people hostage in the Beth Israel Congregation. At the time of this incident, the live telecast of religious programs going on in the Synagogue was going on on Facebook. In such a situation, it can be seen that a person entered there with a gun. Among the four people who were taken hostage, there was also a rabbi (Jewish religious leader).
FBI Special Agent In-Charge Matt DeSarno said the hostage taker was focused on an issue not directly related to the Jewish community and that recent investigations did not find evidence that the man was part of a larger conspiracy, but the investigation agency Will investigate from every aspect. However, it is not clear why Akram chose the Jewish place of worship.
