Westbengal MP/HS cancelled [TKB-Update]

The West Bengal government has canceled this year’s board exams for secondary and higher secondary classes. West Bengal’s Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced the cancellation of West Bengal Board’s Class 10(Madhyamik)  and Class 12(Ucchamadhyamik) board examinations for the academic session 2020-21. On June 7, 2021, she confirm the information via twitter post and PR. Along with the news of cancellation  the CM said that the Evaluation Criteria for preparing the results of secondary and higher secondary classes will be issued soon.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Before releasing the information the West Bengal government has constituted an expert committee to explore the possibilities of conducting secondary and senior secondary examinations amid the pandemic, determining the mode (online/offline) where possible and the basis for evaluation in case of cancellation. Along with this the West Bengal state government had also sought opinion from students, parents, experts and general public regarding the conduct of 10th(MP) and 12th(HS) examinations. All the stakeholders were to submit their views through email by 2 pm of 07 june 2021.
It is considered that on the basis of the review of public opinion and the suggestion of the expert committee formed for the board examinations the West Bengal government has announced the cancellation of secondary and higher secondary examinations for the 2020-21.
Over 20 lakh students affected
More than 20 lakh students of government and private schools affiliated to the state board will be affected due to the decision of the West Bengal government of exam cancellation. Of these, more than 12 lakh students are from secondary classes while 8.5 lakh are from higher secondary classes.
